Sources of footage are from the Associated Press, Periscope Film, and other individual reels uploaded which I stabilized and speed corrected in some cases. It was a challenge to organize it and I ended up re uploading it because I was dissatisfied with the quality and I also found more footage and some photographs. Okinawa was the final brutal battle of the pacific theater and an estimated 100,000 Okinawa civilians were killed among the fighting between the US Marines and the Japanese soldiers. The purpose of this video is not to create a gross out montage of film in any juvenile way but rather to provide an unflinching look at war and our history without the bias of patriotism. The images are grisly and disturbing which is no surprise since it is war footage.
War is a truly tragic phenomena. It decimates the lives of both the young and old alike, as well as the innocent with the guilty. It is a routine humanity has repeated and has perfected. A repetitive dance of death and destruction. I hope at the very least this video is a sobering reminder of what war brings regardless of politics.
